- Fares: The one-way fare is now $2.90. This makes the subway an affordable option for exploring the city.
- Buy MetroCard: Alternatively, you can still buy a MetroCard from vending machines at stations, which offer both rechargeable and disposable options.
- Reading the Card: Each subway line has its own color and letter or number. Always check the direction in which you are traveling. The subway map can seem a bit complicated at first, but you'll quickly get the hang of it.
- Apps for Route Planning: Use apps like Google Maps or the MTA app for real-time information on schedules and any disruptions.
Rush Hour Avoidance: The subway can be very busy during rush hour (7-9 a.m. and 5-7 p.m.). Try to avoid these times if you want a more comfortable trip. - Safety: Stay alert and keep an eye on your belongings, especially during late trips.
Rules Respect: Do not eat or drink on the subway and do not block passage with large objects. - Exploration: Each subway line offers a unique perspective of NYC. It is a great way to explore the city.
